The Hollywood Fantasy !

Day 5 - December 28 2008 (Sunday)

Hollywood - the district in downtown LA which has become synonymous with Movies in United States. We were in the cinema capital of the world which has and is churning out movies to a dozen. The Universal Studios - Hollywood was our hub for the entire day. One whole day is not enough to explore the whole place and you are left asking for more. However we could cover the most famous places, shows and rides. Below are some of the highlights of the studio. Sit back and enjoy.

When in Hollywood everything is glamorized

The earth is a studio

Our companion Ravi strikes a pose

Holiday frenzy

Christmas Dolls

A truly lovely piece of art as you

Captivating smile

Tour the Studio

A stunt demo

Chugging along in the studio tour experiencing earthquakes, floods, fires, shark attacks, gated communities, ancient European streets and many more.

Its the Christmas season - Year 2008

Shrek 4-Dimension - yes you get to feel what you see

Dare to enter the House of Horrors

Spectators for the astoundingly synchronised performance of the Water World - The most famous show.

The show begins

The 15 minute show comes to an end

You got call

Mulligans bar - The Adios cocktail

At $25 'All you can eat' througout the day

The double experience of the Mummy Roller Coaster left us ecstatic

The luminous escalators

The name of The Simpsons Krustyland rollercoaster does not even give a clue of the excitement that is in store. The combination of still motion and virtual reality was phenomenal.

Tourists set for the Terminator 3-D

The mimicked city

Walk the Citywalk

Sound of music

The mammoth guitar - only a hulk can strum

It was a day filled with fun, curiosity and excitement. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We left Los Angeles at 10 PM and reached Bay Area at 2-30 AM. The 1300 mile 5 day journey was indeed a year ending stree buster.

Dear Kartick,

I am happy that you had enjoyed a lot on your tour. And thank you a lot for complimenting me on my street photography. I mainly use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Lightroom for post processing my images. But I do not process too much. A photographer must not manipulate his images too much.
Minor cloning, burning, dodging, change of colour balance, is acceptable. Not more than that.

Your pictures were taken mostly as a passing shot. So it can not expected for the pictures to be good enough. But they have documented the journey well. I will comment on a few pictures.

"Christmas Dolls" - could have been better if the subject at the background had not been covered by subject in the foreground. This overlaping of subject has ruined the image. Otherwise the picture would have been a good one.

"Captivating Smile" - good one. But it needed smaller aperture and lesser ISO. A play of light and darkness would have worked marvels for the image. And why haven't you post processed the images?

The little girl with the dog is a good picture. A little bit of post processing will make it a good picture.

Rather than shooting any picture, take your time, compose and take five good shots, but make them the best.

If you want, I may post process the picture of the girl with her dog and mail it to you as a sample. You might like it. So mail me your ID at - subhanjan.sengupta@gmail.com
